What’s your passion?

Earlier this week Karen and I helped our daughter Christin settle into an apartment in Abilene. She is beginning graduate school at ACU in social work. We have mused that her motto is, “Changing the world one person at a time.” We say it in jest but there is something to it. It’s a statement of passion, heart and focus.  I talk to people everyday who have no passion. Somewhere along the road of life the passion ended up iin a ditch of regret stuck in the mud.  Maybe it’s you. Only you know how stuck you are.

What’s your passion?  Do you have a ministry burden? You know, something that must be done because of the way God wired you.  It’s when you feel alive spiritually with a sense of purpose. It’s when your soul is nourished by God’s Spirit in you. It’s when you know peace and can drift off to sleep with joy filling your tired bones from serving and want to do it again.

Go ahead.  Consider where you are in life. Take inventory of what makes you feel alive and willing to take risk.   “I used to do” faith won’t get you unstuck. Another deep ditch is “If only they would…”.   This too is powerless.

Our friend, Paul, who we have read for years speak of his passion, “Christ and him crucified (1 Cor 2.2). He speaks of “pressing on…” (Phil 3.12); of fighting, laboring, struggling–all the words of passion.

Some days I just have to look in the mirror and say, “I will not quit because of Christ.”

God loves you.You belong to Christ.  Take the step.

Grady, Ouch, Thanks for stepping all over my feet. I had my Valram 5-Toed shoes on ! JK. Thanks for sharing -Your daughter’s motto. Yep, I would say she ‘s daddy’s girl. No doubt molded by your powerful love, words, kindness and Example as what it means to Live Gospel. Of course, no doubt, she got the brains from her Mom. I hope her transition to graduate work and Abilene will go well. She will definitely be on my prayer list.
May God’ s peace and blessings be with you.
